Line - Wash and Watercolor
with Paul Allen Taylor
Finally, watercolor made simple. Line and Wash was once a very popular method of painting in watercolor. Artists used many different tools at their disposal to create entertaining drawings then add the watercolor. Essentially, the process of making a watercolor painting is easier when starting with line. The detail information for the eye is presented through the entertaining line that varies with density, texture and width. The act of painting becomes less laborious as we are less concerned with shapes that interlock. Students will also learn how to paint on saturated paper to achieve cleaner and more saturated colors.
The day will open with Paul explaining this technique and how to whittle the match. Student will practice for a few minutes and then we dive into the days painting, Barn on the Hill. Paul will guide you through the rough drawing and inking in preparation for the afternoon’s painting.
Paul will provide bottle of ink, matches, holders and knives for the match whittling. A supply list of other materials is available with a few important things.
